Meliora K.'s Goals for 2015

2015 Goals Meliora K

A new year means new goals.  Keeping in line with our commitment to transparency, our team at Meliora K. wanted to share with our fans and customers what our goals are in the 2015.  We have 5 main goals I’d like to share with you.
  1. $100K in revenue
Yes, we’re small, but we have goals of helping more people clean better. It’s pretty simple:  sell more, make more, help more.  Our ultimate goal for 2015 is to reach more people in more places to help them clean better.
How you can help:  Do you love our products, but want to get it on your regular shopping trips?  Tell us about where we should be!  We’d love to learn which stores our fans shop at so we can talk to the right people.
  2. Track waste in 2015; eliminate non-recycling/compost waste in 2016
This could be our hardest goal. We’re pretty good at recycling and composting in the Meliora K. office, but we really don’t know how much waste goes out the door.  In order to improve, we first have to measure where we’re at.  We’ll use at least the first half of 2015 to measure our waste in terms of landfill, recycling, and compost waste.  We’ll then evaluate ways to reduce that through better buying, reusing (we already reuse as much packaging as possible in our shipments to our customers), and disposing to get us on a path to eliminate landfill waste by the end of 2016.
How you can help: Join us in monitoring waste by doing it at home.  Measure how much you throw out, recycle, and compost in a day, week, or month and see if there are ways you can improve on it.
  3. Expand to 200 Stores and add subscription services.
If this looks similar to goal 1, that’s ok. Adding more products and places to buy products are 2 great ways to improve our sales.  The more stores we can get in, the more people who see our product – that’s pretty simple.  But, subscriptions help an entirely different customer:  the ones who want to have product show up on their doorstep when they need it.  We’re evaluating how to bring this service to our fans.  Stay tuned for more information!
How you can help: if you like the idea of our products showing up on your door, tell us here.  Got a store nearby?  Tell us about it!
  4. 80% of our products each sell more than 10% of our total sales.
We want to make sure we are helping our fans as much as possible. That means giving you what you want from us.  It doesn’t make sense to us to have a ton of products that don’t sell.  It also helps us to buy the right amounts of the right materials.  We don’t want to waste raw materials like anything else that comes into our facility.
How you can help:  Tell us what you like.  But, more importantly, tell us what we can do better or differently.  If we can’t learn from our mistakes we’ll keep making them.  No one wants that!
  5. Donate at least 2% of revenue to sustainable causes.
We’re already a proud member of 1% for the Planet ( and Women’s Voices for the Earth’s ( No Secrets Campaign.
How you can help: We think we have a good handle on this one, but we’re always open to new ways to make things better. We’re open to “in-kind” and cash donations.  Reach out to us and we can start a conversation.

As a business, we strive to keep the 3 P’s (People, Planet, and Profit) as a triple bottom-line for our overall performance.  Here’s how our 2015 goals align to the 3 P’s:

Thank you to everyone for an amazing 2014.  We over quadrupled our sales from 2013 and we’re looking for even more of the same (and then some!) in 2015!
