Baking Soda: Where does ours come from?

Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate, NAHCO3) is one of the key ingredients of our Laundry Powder. The most common source of the baking soda in the US is the Green River Basin in Wyoming, where trona ore is mined and refined into baking soda (aluminum-free, as it's always been). Since we started nearly 5 years ago, this is where our baking soda came from.

We have started a shift to a different, still US-based, source. In Colorado, baking soda comes from nahcolite, NaHCO3, which is extracted from the ground via mining or water extraction.

Nothing about our baking soda's chemical make-up, or its performance in our Laundry Powder, will change. It's as people- and planet-friendly as ever. This is simply a shift in our supply chain, and we wanted to be fully transparent.

If you have any questions about our ingredients, supply chain, or just want to chat about soap, hit us up. We're happy to talk!
