What’s your role on the Meliora Cleaning Products team?

Production Manager

What drew you to Meliora?

I wanted to work for a small company that was committed to sustainability and people. I learned about B Corp Certification and realized that I wanted to be putting my time and energy into a company that was working towards making a positive difference. I wanted to move back to Illinois, since I grew up outside Chicago, so Meliora was the perfect place for my next chapter.

If a friend is visiting Chicago, what’s the first thing you want to take them to go see?

The view of the Chicago skyline from the Adler Planetarium steps. It’s absolutely gorgeous and underrated.

Obligatory question: what’s your favorite Meliora Cleaning Product?

Definitely the Lavender Laundry Powder. My clothes always smell amazing and they’re so clean!

Please tell us about your pets. This part is mandatory.

I could go on and on, but I’ll try to keep it short. My boyfriend and I have 3 cats: Belle, Lola, and Miso.

Belle is a 4.5 year old tabby who is extremely sassy, but also really affectionate (until you pay attention to her being loving). She had given birth to a litter of kittens and was super malnourished when we adopted her, but she’s great now! Lola is a 3.5 year old tortie and the most cuddly cat I have ever met. She even asks for belly rubs!

Also, interesting fact, my boyfriend and I recently found out that Lola was shot by a pellet gun when she was a kitten, and miraculously survived! She has scar tissue around the pellet, but it thankfully is lodged in a way that doesn’t affect any of her organs.

Finally, we have little baby Miso, who is a 6 month old Russian Blue (maybe) who loves chomping on toes. He has cerebellar hypoplasia (wobbly cat syndrome), so he is constantly falling over and waddling around. He recently learned that he can jump, so we’ve been hearing lots of random thuds throughout the day - he jumps on tall things, loses his balance, and then falls off. He never gets discouraged, though, and he tries jumping again right away. Here are some pictures of the fur babies!

Ok this might be a no-brainer but what’s your most-used emoji?

Please tell us your favorite piece of nerd trivia. Yes, this part is also mandatory.

I have an ever growing collection of fun facts stored in my brain, so here are my top three:

  1. A “jiffy” is an actual unit of time! It’s 1/100th of a second.
  2. The only letter that doesn’t appear in a US state’s name is Q.
  3. Human noses and ears never stop growing.

What’s the cleanest part of your home?

Probably my closet and dresser. I am really particular about how my clothes are folded and put away.

If you could get rid of one type of cleaning forever, what would you eliminate?

Vacuuming. I absolutely despise vacuuming. If my Roomba could do a better deep clean, the world would be a better place.

Speaking of, what do you wish was illegal?

Putting shoes on furniture, especially beds.

If you could donate a million dollars to any charity, which one would you pick?

AHM Trust in Bodinayakanur, India. I worked with this trust while I was in high school and college, and truly believe in their mission. They operate a free retirement home, orphanage, hospital, and trade school in one of the poorest villages of South India. They offer free classes for local residents to help them learn trade skills, so that they can help support their families. They help give education to the kids in their orphanage, as well as the kids in the area since the majority of them drop out of school to help support their families. They also work with local officials to bring more resources to the community and provide more opportunities for the residents.

Lastly, and most importantly, what house in Harry Potter would you be sorted in?

1000% Hufflepuff. I’m a particularly good finder! (People who have seen A Very Potter Musical will know the reference).
