Leaping Bunny Certified
We hold ourselves accountable to our commitment to be a better company. Better isn’t just in our name; it's a reminder that every day we can improve on the status quo by offering cleaning products that are better for people and the planet.
Leaping Bunny certification is the highest standard for companies committed to using cruelty-free, animal-friendly practices across the entire supply chain.
Leaping Bunny certified since 2017
Leaping Bunny certifies companies that are committed to eliminating animal testing. Companies must make a voluntary pledge to clear animal testing from all stages of product development, including working with only suppliers who make the same pledge. The result is a product guaranteed to be free of new animal testing.
Cruelty-Free Cleaning Products
We are committed to making cruelty-free cleaning products. Unfortunately, the term “cruelty-free” is unregulated in the United States, meaning there is no formal definition for the standards and practices associated with the claim. That means that sometimes companies may advertise their products as “not tested on animals” while still buying ingredients tested on animals or contracting other companies to conduct animal testing for them. The Leaping Bunny certification program addresses this issue by reviewing the entire product development process, including the practices of the brand, its suppliers, and third-party manufacturers.
All our products are made without new animal testing. In April 2017, we committed to not purchase any ingredients from suppliers who continue to perform animal testing. We manufacture all our products at our factory in Chicago, IL.
Made with Vegan Ingredients
Our entire product line is made without animal products. We make plant-based soap using organic coconut oil and organic sunflower oil — no animal fats or palm oil. We always list every ingredient on the product label and on the ingredients page of our website.
Leaping Bunny certified companies and their products are not required to be vegan, as the program “chooses to focus its resources on validating animal testing claims, which is information not readily available to consumers.” Since ingredient disclosure in cleaning products is not required by federal law, it is not always possible to determine if household products are vegan or made with animal ingredients.
Leaping Bunny Certification Process
The Leaping Bunny certification process ensures that a business and its suppliers do not use animal testing. Companies must make a voluntary pledge not to “conduct, commission, or be party to animal tests” after a fixed date as part of the Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals. They must also establish a Supplier Monitoring System to ensure that all ingredients, products, and other materials purchased from suppliers and third-party manufacturers comply with Leaping Bunny standards.
Once approved, companies are required to annually recommit to the Standard and make their Supplier Monitoring System open to independent auditing.
About Leaping Bunny
Leaping Bunny certification is a program of the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC), a coalition of eight national animal protection groups. The CCIC was formed in 1996 to create a single comprehensive standard for cruelty-free brands and products. In addition to certifying companies that commit to the Leaping Bunny standards, the CCIC works with companies to “help make shopping for animal-friendly products easier and more trustworthy.”
