What Fabrics Are Compatible with Meliora Cleaning Products?

Eco-Friendly & Non-Toxic Laundry Products — Meliora Blog

Only a few products are truly needed in your laundry supply stock. But where can you use our products safely? Are there any fabrics you should avoid?

We’ve put together a list to help you limit the items in your laundry room while keeping your home people- and planet-friendly.

Laundry Powder

Our laundry detergent is safe and effective at washing almost any type of clothing and fabric. It is made from a combination of baking soda, washing soda, and vegetable soap — no harsh or harmful chemicals! Because it is not mixed with bleach or other oxidizing agents, it is safe to use with natural fibers like wool and silk.

Laundry Powder is septic-safe and made with biodegradable ingredients. The gentle formula is safe for baby and children’s clothes and pet items. It is also free of chemicals that are harmful to ecosystems, making it an eco-friendly option.

Oxygen Brightener

Our bleach alternative acts as both a laundry booster and an oxygen cleaner. It is made from a mix of washing soda and sodium percarbonate. Washing soda, which is chemically similar to baking soda, is an abrasive and deodorizer that acts as a laundry booster by helping water penetrate deeper into fabrics. Sodium percarbonate is an oxidizing agent, meaning it reacts readily with organic materials. This makes it highly effective at removing odors and stains but also makes it too harsh for some natural fibers used in clothing like wool and silk.

Always test any new or delicate fabrics in a hidden spot before cleaning.

Oxygen Brightener is a safer alternative to oxygen cleaners that use harsh chemicals like bleach and chlorine. When it reacts with dirt and other organic compounds, the byproduct is primarily water. There is no bleach byproduct washing down the drain and into the environment. However, it is still a powerful sanitizer that kills bacteria. It should not be used with septic tanks, which rely on bacteria to break down waste.

Do not mix Oxygen Brightener with other chemicals, including chlorine and ammonia. Sodium percarbonate may irritate eyes and skin. In case of eye contact, rinse with water for 15 minutes. In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If ingested, drink plenty of water to dilute, and do not induce vomiting.

Soap Stick Stain Remover

Our soap stick stain remover is safe for practically any fabric in your home. It is a solid bar made of unscented coconut oil soap that is tough on stains and gentle on everything else. Part of its stain-removing power comes from the friction caused by rubbing the soap into a wet surface. It is especially effective when used to pre-treat stains before a wash cycle.

We recommend testing any new or delicate fabric on a hidden spot first.

The soap stick is septic-safe and made from biodegradable ingredients, meaning it is safe to use in washing machines, over sinks, and on shower curtains — anywhere the lather might wash down the drain. It is made from vegan soap that is safe for baby and pet items.
