Meliora Cleaning Products Featured on Good Morning America — Meliora Blog

Meliora Cleaning Products was featured on the Good Morning America segment “The eco-friendly changes you can make that could also save you money.” In the segment, ABC News’ Becky Worley explores home cleaning and bathroom products that people can use to save money and reduce plastic pollution and waste.

She talks with Anna Robertson, co-founder of The Cool Down, a group dedicated to educating people on the what, why, and how of sustainable living. “The latest statics show that less than 5% of plastics are actually getting recycled,” Robertson says.

The Cool Down partnered with Good Morning America to recommend sustainable household products, including our plastic-free Laundry Powder, solid shampoo bars from HiBAR, reusable Swedish dishcloths from Nordhus Design, and more. The Martin family of Utah used the products for two weeks.

“The powder is amazing,” says Mindy Martin, “you only need to use a little bit, so it’s going to last a really long time”.

When asked if any sacrifices came with the sustainable swaps, Ken Martin says “I wouldn’t say a sacrifice, it’s just a change of behavior.”

Good Morning America estimates that the family saved $42 a year by switching from liquid detergent to our Laundry Powder. That’s not to mention the plastic pollution prevented by avoiding plastic jugs. The EPA estimates that 641 million laundry jugs are used each year in the United States. They calculate that 14.5 million tons of plastic containers were created in 2018, producing emissions equivalent to 4.5 billion gas-powered cars driving year-round.

Thank you to Good Morning America for reminding people that it doesn’t cost more to clean better!
