Meliora Cleaning Products was featured on WGN Radio’s Your Money Matters with Jon Hansen. In the Small Business Spotlight segment, Kate talks about founding the company on the principles of ingredient transparency after being unable to find out what was in laundry and home cleaning products.
She mentions 1,4-Dioxane, a chemical commonly found in laundry, home cleaning, and cosmetic products:
“I thought: why are people buying laundry detergent with any amount of 1,4-Dioxane, which is a known carcinogen?”, she says, “So laundry detergent was our first product. It’s one of our best-selling products to this day.”
New York state recently passed a law limiting the amount of 1,4-Dioxane that can be present in household cleaning, personal care, and cosmetic products in the state.
Ingredient disclosure is a cornerstone of our business, and we’re excited to see movement toward regulation. We’re continuing to track and report on progress in the United States with our Ingredient Disclosure Map.
