Sodium Bicarbonate: Also known as baking soda, sodium bicarbonate is an odor neutralizer.

Sodium Carbonate: Also known as washing soda or soda ash, sodium carbonate is a pH adjuster. It raises the pH of the washing water, which results in more effective cleaning. For this reason it's often referred to as a laundry 'booster'.

Vegetable Soap-

Sodium Cocoate: This is the chemical name of saponified (that is, 'made into soap') coconut oil. It's the chemical that grabs onto both dirt and water to do the cleaning.

Glycerin: This substance is chemically a type of alcohol and is naturally created when the oil is converted into soap. Glycerin is known for skin-softening abilities and is an effective solvent, meaning it can dissolve substances such as stains and dirts.

Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil: There is a small amount of coconut oil left in the soap after conversion to sodium cocoate. This is because we use sodium hydroxide, or lye, in the conversion process and leaving excess oil ensures there is no remaining lye in the finished product. Some soapmakers refer to this as 'superfatting' and more oil remaining results in a softer, more moisturizing soap. Our coconut soap has only a small amount of excess oil, so it is not the luxurious body type and more of a 'get the job done' soap.

Water: Water is used in the soapmaking process as a substance that dissolves lye and then is a medium so the lye can reach all of the oil to react. After being useful in this process, the water is allowed to evaporate from the soap over a period of several weeks, and the resulting dried soap has very little water. There is only about 5% water remaining in the finished soap, thus making it more shelf stable than a liquid soap that would require a preservative due to the high (about 60%) water.

Our Laundry Powder canister contains 128 HE (64 Standard) Loads. Our best seller. A great value, too. The cardboard/steel canister is easy to recycle or reuse. Comes with a stainless steel scoop. Net Wt. 35 oz.

Our Entire Laundry Collection is 100% Plastic Free

“Meliora means better” isn’t just a line we use. It’s also a goal - to strive to be better today than we were yesterday. We’ve always had a single-use plastic-free laundry collection, but the goal to become 100% plastic-free has been on the board for a long time. Once we identified a supplier who met our criteria for also being people- and planet-friendly, we were thrilled to be able to make this change.

Doesn’t irritate my skin

I have really sensitive skin and struggle with detergents resulting in rashes (especially with athletic clothes). As long as I don’t accidentally use too much, this stuff never bothers my skin. Also, this never leaves my running clothes smelling gross, or like the scent is “covered up”. This product is a workhorse and lasts forever. I’ve used it now for about 3 years.

Just bought

I’ve been using the brightened for years and loved it so am trying the detergent too

It says to put in the washer but it doesn’t seem to dissolve. Am I doing something wrong?

HE instructions.

Do you put the powder directly on the clothes inside the drum of the machine? Is it advised to not put the powder in the dispenser? And can you use the laundry soap and brightener together?

You can put the Laundry Powder directly in the drum with your clothes without any issues. You may also use the dispensing drawer, if the drawer is ok to use with powdered products. We suggest checking with your manufacturer on this step.

Yes, it is perfectly okay to mix Laundry Powder and Oxygen Brightener together. In fact, some laundry powders are formulated with the same ingredients premixed. We like to give customers the option to use or skip the Oxygen Brightener as it is not always necessary. The Oxygen Brightener alone will not not clean your clothes, but is meant as a booster to add with the laundry powder.

THIS is the detergent

I have recently moved all of my household products to create as much of a toxin-free home as possible and I am thrilled to have found this company. This detergent gets the job done, my clothes are soft, they come out just as clean as they did when I used big brand detergents, and I have peace now knowing that my family, pets and I are not being slowly poisoned with fragrances and hidden toxic chemicals. This is the cleanest brand I have found and I am thoroughly impressed with the quality, packaging and the fact that they are plastic free. I will be purchasing the oxygen booster with my next order as well to give it a shot!

Great for cloth diapers!

We came across this brand when looking for a laundry detergent that avoided plastic and harsh chemicals and was good for cloth diapers. I wasn't familiar with laundry powder at the time, but I did my research, bought a few different brands that ticked those boxes and tried them out at home.
Meliora was the winner for us and we've been using them exclusively for about 2 years. We like the simplicity of Meliora's ingredients and especially enjoyed getting a metal spoon in the tin instead of a plastic scoop. A nice touch. I'm still using the original tin and buying the refill bags
Environmental Working Group gives them A's across the board which is great.
We use unscented for baby. This works great on our cloth diapers. Every so often we add a scoop of Meliora's oxygen brightener too which also works great!

Thanks so much for your glowing review, David. Clean cloth diapers for the win!
