We use only what you need to clean your dishes: vegetable soap made with organic coconut and sunflower oils for a solid bar that lathers and cleans dirty dishes effectively.

Our Dish Soap Bars are packaged in a plastic-free, recyclable paperboard box. We also offer unboxed Dish Soap Bars for a zero-waste option.

All of our ingredients are MADE SAFE® Certified, Leaping Bunny certified cruelty-free, and vegan. We list every ingredient, including scents, on the front label so you can see what’s in your soap.

Available in unscented and lemon.

Net wt. 7.0 oz. (199 g).

Our solid Dish Soap bar is a plastic-free alternative to liquid dish soap. Start by placing the bar near your sink. We recommend a soap dish, mug, or coaster to catch excess water, but you can also wet the bottom of the bar and stick it directly on the counter. Wet your sponge, dish brush, or cloth and rub it over the top of the dish soap. Be sure to develop a rich lather on your sponge or brush, then rub it on your dirty dishes to hand wash. Solid dish soap may require more elbow grease than liquid dish soap, so don’t be afraid to scrub a little harder.

For extra dirty dishes that need a soak, just hold the bar under the faucet while the water is running. You can also use this method to fill your sink, pots, and pans with soapy water.

If you’re noticing a greasy film left on your dishes after washing, you may not be lathering the soap enough. Try rubbing your sponge or brush on the soap longer to create a foamier soap and scrubbing your dishes more vigorously.

If you’re seeing spots left on your glasses after washing, they are most likely caused by hard water. Water spots are caused by droplets that dry on the surface of dishes, leaving behind minerals that are found in hard water. If you have hard water, try drying your dishes by hand using a clean cloth to prevent spots.

Ingredient disclosure and transparency is the cornerstone of our business. We list every ingredient on the front label of each product and here on our website. Our Ingredients page lists the technical name, chemical identification (CAS number), country of origin, and additional details for every ingredient we use.

You'll never see the word "fragrance" on our ingredient labels. This catch-all term allows companies to hide ingredients that are potentially harmful to the health of people and the planet. In the US, hundreds of ingredients in the "fragrance" family have never been tested for their impact. Every product is available in an unscented base formula. We also offer products scented with organic essential oils.

Our vegan, plant-based Vegetable Soap is made from organic coconut and sunflower oils that are processed into soap, resulting in the following ingredients:

Sodium Cocoate is the chemical name of organic coconut oil that is saponified, or 'made into soap’. It's the chemical that grabs onto both dirt and water to do the cleaning.

Sodium Sunflowerate is the chemical name of organic sunflower oil that is saponified, or 'made into soap’. It's the chemical that grabs onto both dirt and water to do the cleaning.

Glycerin is chemically a type of alcohol and is naturally created when the oil is converted into soap. We do not add any additional glycerin to our soap. 100% of the glycerin present is a byproduct of the soapmaking process and is vegan and cruelty-free.

Organic Cocos Nucifera, or organic coconut oil, is left in the soap after conversion to sodium cocoate. This is because we use sodium hydroxide, or lye, in the conversion process, and leaving excess oil ensures there is no remaining lye in the finished product. Our castile soap has a small amount of excess oil that gives it a soft feel and lathering quality.

Organic Helianthus Annuus, or organic sunflower oil, is left in the soap after conversion to sodium sunflowerate. This is because we use sodium hydroxide, or lye, in the conversion process, and leaving excess oil ensures there is no remaining lye in the finished product. Our castile soap has a small amount of excess oil that gives it a soft feel and lathering quality.

Water is used in the soapmaking process to dissolve the lye and help evenly mix the oils and lye together for a complete saponification reaction. After saponification is complete, the water evaporates. There is only about 5% water in the finished soap, making it more shelf stable than a liquid soap that would require a preservative due to the high percentage (about 60%) of water.

Organic Citrus Medica Limonum Peel Oil, or organic lemon essential oil, is a scented oil derived from lemon fruit. It is a natural, plant-based alternative to synthetic fragrance blends and adds a zesty, citrus scent to our dish soap.

How to Use Our Dish Soap

How to Use Meliora Dish Soap - Place Near Sink

Place soap on a dish or counter near your sink

Use a soap dish, mug, or coaster to catch excess water. You can also wet the bottom of the soap and stick it to your sink or counter in a place that drains easily.

How to Use Meliora Dish Soap - Lather

Wet a sponge or brush and rub over soap to lather

Get a sponge, dish brush, or clean cloth wet and rub it over the top of the dish soap. Be sure to work up a good lather before applying to dishes so soap can wash away fully.

How to Use Meliora Dish Soap - Rinse Dishes

Rub your soapy sponge or brush on dirty dishes

Scrub your dirty dishes with the soapy sponge, brush, or cloth. You may need to scrub harder than you would with liquid soap. To soak extra dirty dishes, just run the dish soap under running water.

Safer Ingredients, Listed on the Label

Our dish soap is MADE SAFE® Certified, meaning it meets the strictest ingredient screening requirement in the industry. MADE SAFE® certification means that a product has been Made With Safe Ingredients™ that are not known or suspected to harm human health, animals, aquatic life, or ecosystems.

This vegan dish soap is made from organic coconut oil- and sunflower oil-based soap and is available unscented or scented with organic lemon essential oil. It is synthetic fragrance-free, preservative-free, dye-free, and palm oil-free.

Dish Soap is non-toxic when used as directed. For additional safety information, see the Safety Data Sheets on our Ingredients page.

Plastic-Free, Eco-Friendly Packaging

Our eco-friendly dish soap is packaged to minimize waste and environmental impact. Each plastic-free bar comes in a recyclable paperboard box printed with vegetable-based inks. By making a solid dish soap bar, we eliminate the need for added preservatives or single-use plastic bottles.

Solid dish soap bars are more concentrated than liquid dish soap, making them more energy- and cost-effective to ship to you. They also take up less space in your home—each box is only 2.9 inches wide by 2.6 inches tall.

Soap Film..not hard water

Loved the idea of your dish washing soap and just used it for the first time. It worked well to remove food and oils; however, it left a film on my hands and dishes. Please do not tell me it is hard water. It is not. When I use Seventh Generation dish soap, there is no waxy film left on my hands or dishes. It is the same kind of residue that the Dr. Bronner soaps leave on my dishes and metal sink when I use them. (The only Bronner soap that does not leave a film is Sal Suds.) I find that many very natural soap products leave a film on my dishes, sink or hair (hair soap bars). I think it is because there is no sodium laural sulfate. Anyway, I appreciate what you are doing and all your efforts. I will try using vinegar with the soap next time to see if it helps to remove some of the soap oils. Thanks.

Great concept and effective, maybe offer a smaller bar

Cleans well, easy to use. the size makes it hard to keep solid and maintain from getting soggy and gross on the bottom. I brought it for office use and have used it at home. I suggest offer a bar of a smaller size. thanks for your creativity!
