[PEPPERMINT]: Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Carbonate, Vegetable Soap [Sodium Cocoate, Glycerin, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Water], Organic Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil

Sodium Bicarbonate: Also known as baking soda, sodium bicarbonate is an odor neutralizer.

Sodium Carbonate: Also known as washing soda or soda ash, sodium carbonate is a pH adjuster. It raises the pH of the washing water, which results in more effective cleaning. For this reason it's often referred to as a laundry 'booster'.

Vegetable Soap:Sodium Cocoate: This is the chemical name of saponified (that is, 'made into soap') coconut oil. It's the chemical that grabs onto both dirt and water to do the cleaning.

Glycerin: This substance is chemically a type of alcohol and is naturally created when the oil is converted into soap. Glycerin is known for skin-softening abilities and is an effective solvent, meaning it can dissolve substances such as stains and dirts.

Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil: There is a small amount of coconut oil left in the soap after conversion to sodium cocoate. This is because we use sodium hydroxide, or lye, in the conversion process and leaving excess oil ensures there is no remaining lye in the finished product. Some soapmakers refer to this as 'superfatting' and more oil remaining results in a softer, more moisturizing soap. Our coconut soap has only a small amount of excess oil, so it is not the luxurious body type and more of a 'get the job done' soap.

Water: Water is used in the soapmaking process as a substance that dissolves lye and then is a medium so the lye can reach all of the oil to react. After being useful in this process, the water is allowed to evaporate from the soap over a period of several weeks, and the resulting dried soap has very little water. There is only about 5% water remaining in the finished soap, thus making it more shelf stable than a liquid soap that would require a preservative due to the high (about 60%) water.

Our Laundry Powder Refill comes 128 HE (64 Standard) Loads. A great value in planet-friendly, plastic-free packaging. The paper bag with tin tie is easy to recycle/compost. No scoop included. Net Wt. 35 oz.

I can't stress enough just how good this stuff is. It smells heavenly, and cleans wonderfully. And, is safe. What more can you ask for.

Love this stuff!

I’ve finally found what I was looking for: an eco-friendly detergent that cleans well and is priced right. This detergent has cleaned everything from sweaty workout clothes to towels with muddy paw prints. I was skeptical that a tablespoon would be enough, but it is! I especially love the refill bags and the helpful laundry tips. Great product!

Thank you for the kind words!

Less expensive but just as good

I found this detergent while on a search for an eco-friendly product. I tried Simply Co. last time, and while it was good, there were no refill options. Their detergent comes in glass jars, and that's beautiful, but I don't need a billion jars laying around. So the search led me to Meliora. Not only is their detergent less expensive, but it works just as well, and all of the packaging is recyclable. I'm in love. The search is over, and I've found the detergent for me.

This really works!

Bottom line, this stuff really works! It has not let me down once. For set in stains that I wouldn't expect any detergent at anytime to take out, I use the Meliora Stain stick. I talked so highly about this detergent to my daughter that she switched to Meliora as well. She said after using it, her front load washing machine no longer stinks! I am a senior citizen, and as such I have tried many versions and brands of laundry detergent through the years. When I first read about the huge percentage of liquid laundry detergent bottles not being recycled but rather ending up in our landfills or in our oceans, I thought I can no longer contribute to this problem. My first thought was to go back to using a powder laundry detergent that is sold in cardboard boxes at my local grocery store. That only solved one of the problems. Those powdered laundry detergents are loaded with toxic chemicals that end up in our drinking water and waterways where aquatic life will be harmed. Those chemicals also stay in our clothes and our skin absorbs them. "Safer" detergents that are sold in pouches, pods, and dry sheets contain PVC. Unless your city water treatment plant filters specifically for PVC, they will remain in the water that is sent back to your home to drink and back to the waterways for aquatic life to deal with. Sorry to be so long winded, but I really believe in this detergent and stain stick. And no, I was not paid by Meliora to write all that. ;)

We're so glad you found us, Regina! So often fragrance oils can become stuck in our machines. Dirt and grime will attach to those oils causing a stinky build-up over time. It's wonderful to hear that our Laundry Powder has helped to solve that problem!

Works a treat

When my first tub of the laundry powder arrived, I was a little concerned about the strong lavender scent - it does make my laundry room smell nice but it leaves no noticeable scent in the clothes (which makes hubbie happy). I love that I don't have to lug heavy jugs of liquid from the store or make space to store them; it's budget-friendly for our family of 5 (much more so than any of the subscription strips or pods) AND more earth-friendly; gets our clothes clean (even the stinky sports gear) without using earth-harmful chemicals; ships fast, and the customer service is outstanding. Being able to buy refills as compostable bags is the icing on the cake :)

I also tried using a pinch in my carpet shampooer - our older carpets are cream (not ideal with pets and kids!). WOW! I'm not going to say they were spotless - these carpets are long past that LOL - but there was a big improvement, and using the Meliora laundry detergent didn't leave them feeling slightly soapy/slimy like traditional carpet cleaning liquids.
